Effingham Police say an 18-year-old woman was arrested following an early morning shooting on Friday.
Officers were called to the 300 block of North 3rd Street just before 2 a.m. after reports of gunshots in the area. When police arrived, they began investigating what led up to the shooting and whether anyone had been injured.
According to police, one round was fired at a vehicle that was occupied at the time. Inside the vehicle were one adult and two teenagers. Authorities say no one was struck by the gunfire, and no injuries were reported.
Investigators later identified 18-year-old Jalen N. Herschberger as a suspect in the case. Police say Herschberger was taken into custody and is facing pending charges of aggravated discharge of a firearm and unlawful possession of a weapon.
A detention hearing for Herschberger is scheduled for Monday.
Effingham Police say the investigation remains ongoing.
