Illinois is moving to crack down on so-called junk fees. Governor J.B. Pritzker has signed a package of consumer protection bills aimed at making prices clearer and stopping deceptive charges. The new laws ban hidden fees, require more transparency in ticket pricing, and target misleading resale practices that can drive up costs for consumers. The legislation also brings new oversight to “Buy-Now-Pay-Later” lenders, setting rules for an industry that has grown rapidly in recent years. The measures take effect immediately, though lenders will have until January 1st, 2028, to fully comply.
