Sangamon County deputies say an 18-year-old Springfield man is facing charges after allegedly forcing his way into a pregnant woman’s apartment Friday morning.
Deputies were called to the 1800 block of South Douglas Avenue just before 11:30 a.m. for a reported stabbing. When they arrived, investigators say they learned the incident began when Marcello Scott allegedly forced his way inside the apartment of a woman who is seven months pregnant.
According to deputies, Scott struck the woman after entering the residence. Investigators say the woman then used a small kitchen knife to defend herself, injuring Scott in the chest.
Scott was taken for medical treatment for what authorities described as a non-life-threatening injury. After being released, he was booked into the Sangamon County Jail.
Authorities say Scott is now facing charges in connection with the incident. The woman’s condition was not immediately released.
