Nineteen law enforcement officers from six agencies have been awarded the Law Enforcement Medal of Honor during a ceremony in Springfield. This prestigious recognition is reserved for officers who have shown extraordinary courage, often at great personal risk. The medal is also given to those who have been killed or seriously injured while serving. Illinois officials commended these officers for their acts of heroism and sacrificial service to communities across the state. Families, colleagues, and state leaders gathered to pay tribute to the bravery and dedication displayed by these men and women in uniform.
