Illinois high school students could soon have a new path to graduation. The Senate Education Committee has moved forward with a proposal allowing Career Technical Education, or CTE, classes to count in place of the traditional two-year foreign language requirement. Under Senate Bill 3070, students would have this option starting with the class of 2028. Supporters say the measure could better align student skills with workforce needs, while critics warn it may narrow academic opportunities. The bill now heads to the full Senate for debate later this week. Stay tuned for updates as SB 3070 progresses.
