Illinois State Police recently completed targeted distracted driving enforcement patrols in Effingham, Hamilton, Marion, and White counties throughout April. Led by Troop 9 Commander Lieutenant Bruce Waggoner, these patrols aimed to save lives and reduce severe crashes by cracking down on distracted driving behaviors. The enhanced enforcement resulted in multiple citations for phone use and other distractions behind the wheel. Officials say the effort was made possible by funding from the Illinois Department of Transportation. State Police remind all drivers that putting away devices and focusing on the road can prevent accidents and ultimately save lives.
