Man Charged With Breaking Into Home In Farmer City

An elderly resident in Farmer City avoided harm after a late-night home intrusion on East Water Street. Authorities report the homeowner alerted a neighbor after an unknown man entered her house and refused to leave, even attempting to block her escape. Responding police on Saturday found Timothy Murphey, who appeared intoxicated, still inside the residence. Murphey was promptly arrested and taken to Dewitt County Jail. The victim was not physically injured. Police commend the neighbor’s quick response and remind area residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to law enforcement. Charges are pending as the investigation continues.
