The families affected by last year’s tragic incident at the YNOT After School Camp in Chatham are now taking legal action. A lawsuit filed on behalf of the five victims and four surviving children alleges that the building was constructed in violation of safety regulations and lacked barriers to stop vehicles from entering. The April crash claimed the lives of two seven-year-olds, an eight-year-old, and an 18-year-old. The driver, Marianne Akers, was not injured in the crash, and no charges have been filed. The lawsuit seeks accountability from the camp and seeks to address alleged safety failures that may have contributed to the disaster.
