The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is rolling out an improved campsite reservation system for state parks and historic sites, launching May 1st. According to officials, the updated platform promises an easier booking process and faster access to permits. As the upgrade occurs, electronic reservations will be temporarily unavailable from April 27th through April 30th. Anyone with current reservations doesn’t need to worry—those bookings will transfer automatically to the new system. The department recommends planning ahead if you’re looking to reserve a spot, as the brief service pause may impact last-minute bookings during the transition window.
