Severe weather moved through central Illinois Friday evening, bringing multiple warnings and at least one confirmed tornado to the area, with additional storms still impacting the region.
According to the National Weather Service in Lincoln, a tornado was observed on the ground as storms passed through communities including Monticello, Forsyth, Farmer City, and Clinton. Additional tornado warnings were issued earlier in the evening for areas such as Lexington, Chenoa, and Colfax.
The same storm system has also produced severe thunderstorms affecting locations including Forsyth, Maroa, and Harristown, with strong winds, heavy rainfall, and the potential for large hail.
A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 11:00 PM CDT, as conditions continue to support severe weather development across central Illinois.
Residents are encouraged to stay alert and be prepared to take shelter quickly if warnings are issued, as storms remain active and conditions can change rapidly.
