ATTORNEY GENERAL MAKES BUDGET REQUEST

Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul is seeking an extra $15 million in funding for his office in fiscal year 2027. Raoul argued before the Senate Appropriations Committee that his office has delivered strong returns, citing $21.45 in revenue generated for every taxpayer dollar spent on operations in recent years. State Senator Don DeWitte questioned the value to taxpayers, noting that many lawsuits filed by Raoul against the Trump administration have been dismissed in federal court. Raoul emphasized that his office manages a broad range of cases beyond federal litigation, contributing significant revenue to the state.
