With local law enforcement handling other calls, state troopers were able to focus squarely on occupant safety. The crackdown resulted in 91 total citations, with 48 for seat belt violations and five issued specifically for child restraint failures. Officials stress that proper use of restraints significantly reduces the risk of injury or death in traffic crashes.
