Illinois State Police shared results from March patrols conducted in Champaign, Macon, and Vermilion Counties, targeting seat belt and child restraint compliance. With local law enforcement handling other calls, state troopers were able to focus squarely on occupant safety. The crackdown resulted in 91 total citations, with 48 for seat belt violations and five issued specifically for child restraint failures. Officials stress that proper use of restraints significantly reduces the risk of injury or death in traffic crashes. These enforcement efforts aim to encourage safer driving habits and protect all individuals traveling on Illinois roadways.
