The Environmental Protection Agency has announced a nationwide emergency fuel waiver, permitting sales of E15 gasoline and easing federal restrictions on E10. This action, effective from May 1 through May 20, aims to bolster fuel supplies and reduce prices amid ongoing market pressures. The agency indicated the waiver could be extended depending on circumstances. Nate Harris, CEO of the Illinois Fuel and Retail Association, recently warned that fuel prices in Illinois could increase if Governor J.B. Pritzker does not restore the state’s participation in the E10 waiver. The move is expected to impact drivers and retailers across the country.
