The Illinois Clean Jobs Coalition is urging state leaders for stronger measures to address the growing impact of data centers. Last week, the Illinois Commerce Commission approved modified changes to how utility giant ComEd manages data centers, while also launching a follow-up review to tackle ongoing concerns over grid reliability and escalating costs. Still, the coalition argues that the issues—ranging from energy demand to environmental risks—affect communities beyond ComEd’s reach and require statewide solutions. Advocates insist that input from the General Assembly is essential to fully protect Illinois families, businesses, and the state’s clean energy goals.
