A Fulton man faces serious charges after a late-night traffic stop in Decatur revealed drugs and a firearm in his vehicle. Dawson E. Coughlin, 27, admitted to police that he uses cannabis and occasionally inhales nitrous oxide — or “Galaxy Gas.” Officers found five bags of cannabis, two containers of nitrous oxide, methamphetamine, narcotic pills, and a loaded handgun with an extended magazine. Although Coughlin claimed ownership of only the cannabis and gas, both he and his 18-year-old passenger denied knowledge of the firearm and other drugs. Coughlin remains in the Macon County Jail awaiting further court proceedings.
