RENEWABLE POWER PLAN

Illinois is taking a major step toward a cleaner energy future as the state’s Commerce Commission has approved the Illinois Power Agency’s 2026 procurement plan. The updated strategy aims to address looming energy shortages highlighted in last year’s joint report from the IPA, ICC, and Illinois EPA, which warned that the state could face a supply shortfall within four years. The plan promotes increased investment in renewable energy, including utility-scale and community solar projects, wind power, and hydropower.
