Local apprenticeship programs are set for a boost as Illinois leaders announced over $17 million in new funding. The money comes from the Illinois Works Pre-apprenticeship Program, which aims to expand diversity and opportunity across the state. Danville Area Community College will receive $550,000, Richland Community College in Decatur will see $495,000, and The Springfield Project is set for $325,000. State officials say these investments will open doors for more students and underrepresented groups, strengthening the skilled workforce and supporting regional growth. Funding will support training, mentorship, and workforce placement in high-demand fields.
