The Decatur City Council is poised to appoint Melissa Hon as the city’s next permanent City Manager, pending a formal vote scheduled for February 2, 2026. Hon has filled the interim position since November 2025, following Tim Gleason’s departure, and previously served as Deputy City Manager. With 25 years of experience in local government, Hon most recently led community initiatives in Bloomington, Illinois. Her salary is set at $225,000, alongside six weeks of paid vacation and a $550 monthly vehicle allowance. Mayor Julie Moore Wolfe praised Hon’s leadership and dedication, expressing confidence in her vision for Decatur’s future.
