Preckwinkle Warns Public About Rise In Health Insurance Costs In New Year
Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle is warning the public about a rise in health insurance costs in the new year. Preckwinkle says the spike “would be immediate and personal” after Affordable Care Act tax credits expire. More than 500-thousand Illinois residents are enrolled in Affordable Care Act plans. Lawmakers in Washington have been in a heated debate over health insurance. Congressional Democrats prolonged the government shutdown to extend the ACA subsidies, but failed to secure them. Senate Republicans have opposed extending them without changes to reduce the cost to the federal government.
