Illinois AG Condemns Proposed Rules Banning Health Care for Transgender Youth
Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul is condemning two proposed federal rules that could ban health care for transgender youth. The Trump administration released its proposal to ban Medicaid and federal reimbursement for transgender patients younger than 19, and block Medicaid and Medicare funding to any hospital that provides gender-affirming care to youth. Raoul says taking this callous step would have a devastating impact on the patients who need this health care. He says his office is preparing to pursue every avenue to prevent the proposed rules from taking effect.
