Pritzker, Johnson Respond to Trump’s Threat To Deploy National Guard To Chicago
(Chicago, IL) — Governor Pritzker and Mayor Brandon Johnson are responding to President Trump’s threat to deploy the National Guard to Chicago to fight crime. Pritzker said Trump has no right and no legal ability to send troops into the city. Johnson pointed out that homicides and shootings are down in Chicago since he took office. Johnson also noted that the president has cut another $158 million in funding for violence prevention programs in cities like Chicago.
