Pritzker Dispute Texas Senator’s Claims About FBI Tracking Texas Democrats

(Springfield, IL) — Governor Pritzker is disputing a Texas Senator who claims the FBI has agreed to help track down Texas Democrats who fled to Illinois. The governor called Senator John Cornyn’s comments “grandstanding,” adding that there is no federal law that allows the FBI to arrest Texas lawmakers in Illinois. Cornyn requested the FBI’s help on Wednesday, claiming the Texas legislators “are potentially in violation of the law.” Texas Democrats left their state to stop Republicans from enacting new congressional maps that would give the GOP five more seats.
