According to the Macon County Sheriff’s Department that three people were hurt after their vehicle went off the road, hit a tree and flipped on its side Sunday evening. Macon County Sheriff’s were on the scene of the crash in the 5300 block of Blue Mound Road, between Baker Road and Boody Road around 4:46 p.m. on Sunday, July 3. Authorities say a 2004 Nissan 4DR was headed west on Blue Mound Road when it went off the road to the north. According to Macon County authorities, three people were in the car, one of which was an infant. The Macon Sheriff’s Department now reports that 19-year-old Lauren Kapper, of Moweaqua, was driving on Blue Mound Road when she went off the road then over corrected, causing here to lose control of her vehicle. The car then slid sideways until it hit a large tree and turned onto its side. A 17-year-old and 2-year-old were also in the car. All three were taken to a local hospital to be treated for reportedly minor injuries. Kapper has been issued citations for Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid and Accident and Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle.
