Gas Tax Going Up This Week
(Springfield, IL) — Illinois drivers will see an increase in the price they’re paying at the pump this week. The state gas tax is going up, effective July 1st. The start of every fiscal year, since 2019, the gas tax increases based on the Consumer Price Index. This year, the tax is going up two-point-seven-seven percent, which translates into more than one cent per gallon.
