Suspect In Officer-Involved Shooting In Decatur Is Dead
(Decatur, IL) — Police in Decatur say a suspect in an officer-involved shooting yesterday has died. Police Chief Shane Brandel says the 38-year-old suspect had encounters with police before. Police were searching for the suspect following a robbery at the Decatur Discount store yesterday afternoon. They found him walking along West Grand Avenue and North Monroe Street. When they ordered the suspect to lie on the ground, he pulled what appeared to be a gun from his coat. Officers shot and killed him. His identity has not been released. The two officers are on administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation.
