Chicago Man Charged In Shooting Of Trooper In Springfield
(Chicago, IL) — A Chicago man is facing charges in the shooting of a state trooper this week in Springfield. Authorities say the trooper stopped Cristobal Santana Tuesday night in the 16-hundred block of Toronto Road in Springfield. Gunshots were fired and the trooper was hit in the leg. Santana ran off but was taken into custody. He has been charged with Attempted First Degree Murder, Aggravated Battery with a Firearm to a Police Officer, Aggravated Battery to a Police Officer, and Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon. Santana is also a suspect in the deadly shooting of his ex-girlfriend outside her Chicago home this past weekend.
