Man Sentenced For Standoff On Route 51
(Clinton, IL) — A man is pleading guilty following a standoff on U.S. Route 51. Orsino Thurman was sentenced to 14 days in jail with credit for seven days already served. Thurman was arrested in September 2021 after a woman said she was battered at an area hotel in Clinton. His vehicle was then spotted leaving the hotel and headed toward Decatur on Route 51, where a standoff ensued. Thurman was wanted on multiple warrants in LaSalle County. He had a baby and a dog inside the vehicle. When the standoff ended, officers also found multiple weapons and body armor inside the vehicle
