Pritzker Declares Monkeypox Virus Public Health Emergency In Illinois
The monkeypox virus is now considered a public health emergency in Illinois. Governor J.B. Pritzker made that proclamation yesterday, along with declaring the state a disaster area regarding the disease. The declaration allows the Illinois Department of Public Health to use resources for coordinating logistics across state agencies quickly and efficiently. Illinois has 520 confirmed or presumptive cases, the third most in the country.
