Study Shows Drivers Of Color Stopped More In Illinois
An annual study shows drivers of color continue to be stopped at higher rates than white drivers in Illinois. The ACLU reports the Illinois Traffic and Pedestrian Stop Statistical Study determined that in 2021, Black drivers were around one-point-seven times more likely to be stopped by police than white drivers. In Chicago, Black drivers were more than five times more likely to be stopped than white drivers, while Latinx drivers were nearly two-and-a-half times more likely to be pulled over.
