Attorney Andrew Weatherford declares candidacy for Macon County Circuit Judge
Decatur Attorney Andrew Weatherford is officially announcing his candidacy for the Democratic
nomination for Macon County Circuit Judge to fill the open spot left by Judge Thomas E. Little’s
retirement.
Andrew is running because he believes our society is experiencing a crisis of values and now
more than any other time we need to have a judge with principles that reflect the values of our
community. A judge must be a reasonable mediator, maintaining the integrity of the judicial
process.
Andrew grew up in Argenta Oreana, graduating from Argenta Oreana High School in 1999. He
received a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education from Millikin University in 2003, and a
Master’s Degree in political science from Eastern Illinois University in 2005. He then attended
Indiana University at Indianapolis, graduating with a Juris Doctorate in 2008. Andrew has
practiced law in Decatur since 2009, currently with Johnson, Chiligiris & Weatherford.
Andrew has been heavily involved in the community since finishing school, first with the Grow
Decatur and Club 501 initiatives, and now sitting on the boards of both the Empowerment
Opportunity Center (formerly DMCOC) and the Community Investment Corporation of Decatur.
He loves this community and wants to do everything he can to serve it well.
Andrew has been married to his wife Josie since 2011, and they have two daughters, Charlotte
and Abby.
