Pritzker Signs Jelani Day Bill
A bill named after Jelani Day is set become a law in Illinois. Governor Pritzker signed a measure yesterday that requires a coroner or medical examiner to notify the FBI when human remains haven’t been identified within 72 hours of discovery. The Illinois State University grad student was reported missing last August before his body was found two weeks later in the Illinois River. The FBI is still investigating his death, which was ruled a drowning. The law goes into effect next year.
