Legislation Is Proposed To End Utility Illinois Surcharge On Natural Gas Bills

There is a new push for legislation to put an end to a special surcharge on Illinois consumers’ natural gas bills.  Illinois State Representative Cristina Castro of Elgin says the surcharge was passed nine years ago to pay for urgent infrastructure needs but there is no need for the fee now.  Castro’s proposed legislation will get rid of the surcharge for People’s Gas, Nicor, and Ameren Illinois customers.
