The Illinois Department of Revenue is reminding eligible taxpayers to make sure they claim the Earned Income Tax Credit when filing returns this year. Agency spokesperson Maura Kownacki says the tax credit can mean significant savings. A qualifying taxpayer with children can earn a refund of up to 67 hundred dollars. Those who qualify for the federal Earned Income Tax Credit automatically qualify for the state credit, but Kownacki says several people don’t take advantage of the credit on their state return.
