The Mayor of Aurora is running for governor of Illinois. Mayor Richard Irvin formally announced his candidacy yesterday for the Republican nomination. The 51-year-old is the first Black mayor of the state’s second largest city. His running mate is State Representative Avery Bourne from Morrisonville.
