DPD Seeking Information in Tuesday Night Shooting

Tuesday evening, Decatur Police responded to Decatur Memorial Hospital, in reference to a 3 year old from Decatur suffering from gunshot wounds. The child had been brought to the hospital by private vehicle. After initial interviews, DPD responded to the 500 block of W. Sawyer where it was discovered a residence in that block had been struck by gunfire and this is where the victim and family members had been. Upon further investigation, it was determined that the firearm used was likely fired from inside the residence, by an occupant of the house. This investigation continues and other witnesses are being sought at this time.
