New Law Bans Hairstyle Discrimination In Illinois Schools

A new law goes into effect next year that will put an end to hairstyle discrimination in schools.  State Senator Mike Simmons of Chicago, who sponsored the measure, says the bill restricts school dress codes from banning natural or ethnic hairstyles such as braids, afros and dreadlocks.  The law applies to public and private schools in Illinois.
