Springfield Split Between Districts In New Congressional Map

Debate continues in Springfield over how to draw congressional districts in Illinois.  The second draft of legislative maps was released on Saturday and affects mostly the Chicagoland area.  Springfield would be split into separate districts.  Representative Tim Butler took issue yesterday with the split during House Redistricting Committee hearings.  The General Assembly is expected to vote on a final version of the map by the end of the fall veto session.
