A new law will provide a pathway for some community college students to be automatically admitted to the University of Illinois. The law says those at Illinois Community colleges with at least a B-minus average will automatically qualify to transfer to any U of I campus. The U of I is creating a four-year uniform admission system pilot program. To qualify, a student would have to have graduated from an Illinois high school, have at least 36 transferable community college credits, earn at three-point-oh GPA or better, and meet the system’s English language proficiency requirement. The law goes into effect January 1st.
