The Illinois Secretary of State’s office will be checking to see if motorists in the state have auto insurance. Spokesman Henry Haupt says a new system is in place that is designed to track down those who are not covered. Violators will face a 100-dollar fine and have their license plate suspended. If you get a letter from the secretary of state’s office saying you don’t have insurance, but you do, you’ll need to contact your agent to get that verified.
