Two police officers who were shot on duty are just a few appreciated by a crowd of five-thousand as part of Mahomet’s second annual Honor Parade. It was led by a memorial car holding the family of Champaign Officer Chris Oberheim, who was killed a month ago. Officer Jeff Creel was shot in the same incident and served as the parade’s Grand Marshal. The parade is sponsored by the Mahomet Lions Club to show the community’s appreciation for first responders and veterans, and all funds raised go to help charities the club supports.
