The plan to subsidize nuclear plants, close coal and gas power plants, and push Illinois toward 100-percent renewable energy is on hold at the Illinois Capitol. The Illinois Senate yesterday chose not to vote on the proposal. There’s some disagreement between Illinois’ environmental groups, the state’s unions, and communities in downstate Illinois that rely on coal for their electricity. Illinois Senate President Don Harmon says he expects to vote on some version of the plan before the summer is over.
