Juneteenth To Become State Holiday

Juneteenth is closer to becoming a state holiday as the measure to make it one was passed by the state House last week. All that remains is for Governor J.B. Pritzker to sign the bill. If the governor signs it, it would take effect immediately and make Juneteenth a paid day off for state employees and a school holiday. If June 19th falls on a Saturday or Sunday, the holiday would be observed the following Monday.
