Illinois is getting closer to reaching herd immunity. Health officials say that as of yesterday, more than half of the state’s adults have been fully vaccinated from COVID-19. They added that at around 67-percent of adults in the state have received at least one dose of the vaccine. This comes after Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot announced last week that the city might join the rest of the state if it fully reopens on June 11th. She added that all the metrics are heading in the right direction, but more people need to get vaccinated from the virus.
