Some downstate municipalities are receiving some state assistance with gas bills. Governor J.B. Pritzker announced new low interest loans meant to help small municipalities pay for large gas bills following storms that hit many states over the last few weeks. The 15-million dollar program will help towns such as Riverton, which is facing a 700-thousand dollar bill for six days of natural gas. The Illinois Finance Authority will meet today to finalize the program, with money going out the towns soon afterward.
