Republicans in the Illinois House are asking the Governor to veto the Police Reform Bill passed earlier this month. The sweeping legislation ends cash bail, requires police body cameras, makes changes to use of force policies, requires those arrested to be granted three phone calls and more. House GOP members say it was passed too quickly and that it threatens public safety. The Republicans do agree, however, that reforms are needed to weed out bad cops and end discrimination in the criminal justice system, but that the over 700 page piece of legislation approved in the final hours of the lame duck session is not the solution.
