If you cannot get anyone at Illinois’ unemployment office to call you back, you are not alone. Springfield’s state senator told reporters this week that he was frozen-out by the Department of Employment Security for weeks. Senator Steve McClure even went to the department’s headquarters to speak with someone. He says he wanted to help four local people who’ve been asking for help for months. An IDES spokesperson says the wait time just to get a question answered by the department is about two weeks.
