Illinois farmers are at the top of the 2020 list of soybean producers. Soybean producers in the state raised over six-million bushels using more than ten-million acres. Average yields were 59 bushels per acre, up from 54 in 2019.
Meanwhile, China’s been in the market for U-S soybeans. Nearly two million metric tons of soybeans have gone to China so far this year. The Iowa Soybean Association says demand is strong because China is re-starting it’s swine herd. Soybean supplies are tight, pushing up prices. Iowa and Illinois are the top two soybean growing states in the nation.
