This is not the time for a government-mandated pay raise. That’s essentially the argument from the Quad Cities Chamber as members ask the state to delay this week’s minimum wage increase. Starting Friday, workers in Illinois will see their pay jump to at least 11-dollars-an-hour. Jake Ford with the Chamber says that’s a cost that a lot of struggling businesses cannot afford right now. But Ford said it is unlikely that Illinois will postpone the increase. He says businesses on the Illinois side of the river need to prepare themselves for what comes next.
