We Are One Community, the charitable giving fund of working families, will be the benefactor of a virtual fundraiser called “Solidarity through Charity” with 14 days of giving between December 18-31, 2020. The event is hosted by Decatur Trades & Labor Assembly and the Decatur Building & Construction Trades Council and will raise funds to be given to local charity on Labor Day 2021. The online event is open to anyone interested in We Are One Community.
The We Are One Community fund, celebrating 9 years in existence, was created by the two organizations to promote collective giving and philanthropy among working families. Since its inception, the fund has awarded $146,300 to local charities.
The virtual event will serve as an end of the year push to collect money for We Are One Community fund. This year’s goal is $20,000. Additionally, local unions will be encouraged to host fundraising campaigns and promote payroll deduction with employers in the new year. The donor-advised fund is housed at The Community Foundation and the all-volunteer advisory board promises that 100% of all individual donations go directly to local services.
