House Republicans are calling for hearings in to the COVID-19 outbreak at the LaSalle Veterans Home. Republican lawmakers say they have been asking for weeks for a hearing on the 200 plus positive cases and now 28 deaths at LaSalle. The Senate held a hearing on the matter last week, and an independent review by a state Inspector General is being launched. Unlike the Senate, the House did not pass legislation allowing virtual hearings. Still, the Republicans say some sort of meeting could be held to see what else can be done at the Home.
